King Apparatus was probably the most influential Canadian Ska band of the 1990's. By the time I joined up to drum their "Strong Physical Urge Tour" the band had already traveled across Canada 11 or 12 times. It wasn't by chance they had a loyal and devoted following. Their energy on stage was only matched by the audience and each and every date of that tour felt like I had run a marathon by the end of the night. Ska is such a big part of my life and when I needed a drinking song to accompany the drunk pub scenes from the book, Non-Stop Drinking was the first song that came to mind. Even today I sometimes find a King Apparatus sticker pasted to the back of an old amp or guitar case. The caption says it all -"Loud Party"
I hear there are some new King tracks in the works but if you want to check out the singer/song writer Chris Murray, you can find him on Facebook performing acoustic Ska on Bluebeat Live stream a couple times a week.
